Just wanted to ask Moms, do you stock up on cans goods, or prepare ?

I know the food prices are going up, and things are costing more. I know some who are stocking up, and I stocked up on some things incase prices goes up more... Lets say you see Soups on sale, instead of getting one or two, get four, to save money.. Or if you see a food item on sale, buy a few extras.. ( cause the next time it might be 30 cents more ..)

  • Yes! When things go on clearance I stock up! Canned goods have a long shelf life and I can freeze a lot of other things (meat, cheese, milk, etc).

  • It depends on how full my pantry is, what my grocery budget is, if I have coupons and if there are sales going on. If I see something that I do use/need on sale and if the budget allows I usually pick up a few extra cans.

  • I always try to buy sale items in bulk, but it has nothing to do with what may or may not happen to food prices in the future.

  • I always stock up on frequently used items when I find them on sale. That includes my frozen boneless skinless chicken tenders. They are currently on sale at Stater Bros for $4.77 a bag. Normally they are almost $10/bag so I plan to buy a billion of them.

  • I do keep a rotating stock of foods in my pantry because DH is in construction & sometimes it can be a long time between paychecks. There have been times when I wasn't able to do a full grocery shop for a month at a time and that's when we ate from the stockpile, then when the paychecks started coming in again, I restocked. I don't necessarily buy a lot of canned goods, though, more dried foods because they last longer. I also do home canning from our own gardens & fruit trees.

  • I have tons of canned food. Half the time I dont know why I even buy it. Now that food prices are going up I am glad I am an impulse buyer sometimes lol. Here lately I have actually been stocking up on meats, oatmeal, rice, and beans.
