Car seat, car question

First let me say I will not be doing this. I just heard people can do this if there isn't enough room in the car.

Okay say I have a 5 passenger car. There are 2 large car seats in the back (fits 1-4 year old) There is no room in the middle for a booster. My SS mom and my own mother said it was okay to put a booster seat in the front seat for my 4 yr SS or my 5 yr niece. I will never do this because I find it extremely unsafe. But this isn't the first time I've heard o seen it. My neighbor puts his 4 yr old daughter in the front seat with her booster all the time.
So my question is, can people actually do this? Does the law allow it if there isn't room in the car for the other seat?

  • It depends on the state I think. Found out it's legal in MN. Would I do it? No
