What were you sure that you WOULDN'T do as a parent?

For example, before having your baby you might've said "I'll never let my child have a TV in their room." or "I'll never let my kid eat McDonalds" Did you keep to that after you became a parent?

  • I was sure I wouldn't have a tantrum-throwing child in public places. Ha! God has a way of getting our attention!

  • I grew up poor and I always promised myself that I would give my kids anything they wanted. Anything. Not only have I realized that's impossible but I now know growing up poor teaches you way more things about life than the most expensive exclusive private school education ever will.

  • I told myself that I would never "spit clean" my kids. I don't always have a wet wipe with me. I also said we would never eat McDonald's. Now I say, we won't eat McDonald's more than once a week. I also said they would never have cookies for breakfast. There has been a time or two that I have been in a hurry in the morning and they have had a cookie.

  • I didn't tell myself anything specific until recently.  Before, it was just to be a better parent than my own.  That could be accomplished easily though, lol.
