  • Age isn't the thing to look at. It's about teeth and coordination.

Does he have the ability to chew the chunks? Or does he just swallow everything whole?

  • Like the gerber 3 foods? It says the recommended age on the food itself. Also on It's been a few years for me so I don't honestly remember, but spells out the recommended ages for all their foods

  • We 'tried' at about 10 or 11 months. But my son HATED Stage 3 so we skipped it and went to table food.

  • We never did. By the time they got to that age they were eating real food.

  • My son is almost 8 months and I want to try him on 3rd foods. Too young?

  • We just skipped the 3rd foods. In fact, with baby #2 and #3, we skipped baby food all together. Seemed dumb to me to pay that much for "baby food" when you can mash whatever you're eating to that consistency. By 10 months old, all of mine were able to eat small chunks of very cooked veggies or small pasta, which is generally what the third foods contain.
