  • Have you tasted baby food? I wouldnt eat it either. All my kids just ate what we ate. I just mashed it or cut it up really really good. I didn't hold back on seasonings or anything. They are now 4 very healthy adults. So, I guess it didn't hurt them. LOL.

  • I loved baby food. Just keep offering it, she'll eat it. Most of her calories should come from formula or breast milk. No big deal if she doesn't eat baby food.

  • Mine didn't have teeth either. You can mash green beans, potatoes, carrots, peas...any veggies you cook for dinner. You can buy a ricer really cheap and grind up any meats you cook. Or use a small food processor.

  • ALL of my kids were like this, and my current son is almost 7 months and doesn't eat baby food either. However, they've all loved warm oatmeal with apple sauce and cinnimon!

  • If she doesn't have any teeth, you can feed her table foods that mush up to smooth.

Avocado, banana, apple sauce, mashed sweet potato, mashed potato, mashed peas

  • Keep in mind that solids fed to babies before they turn 1 are for the experience of eating them, not for nutrition (a subject most doctors know little about).Nutritionists recommend starting solids at 6 months; many now recommend skipping cereal and starting with a bit of avocado mashed with breastmilk (or formula). Then baked sweet potato, oatmeal, pumpkin, pureed peas, etc. Jarred baby food tastes awful, is expensive, and you never really know what is in it. Be sure to avoid the allergy trigger foods. This is not a complete list: before age 1, no soy, dairy, wheat, citrus, egg white, strawberries; before age 2 no honey, chocolate, nuts.
Two great books /websites on feeding babies, with differing philosophies, Baby Led Weaning www.babyledweaning.com and Super Baby Food www.superbabyfood.com You should be able to find them at your local library
