Why should people close their questions?

Someone asked earlier today about why we don't get points for closing questions. But I don't get it. Why is it bad to leave the questions open?

  • I'm not sure.  In Crazy for Credits it's important because that's what we're there for.  Here in regular questions and answers, I don't see any difference.

  • Maybe it's to award best answers also.  Most like to be voted as best answer, it's a little boost, lol.  Maybe that's why it's a big deal.  I don't know, I saw that question earlier but I didn't read any of the answers.
