Strep at 3?

My pediatrician said my son had a swollen throat and pus filled things in his throat, but said he was too young for strep. I've talked to other parents though (3 of which are nurses) and they said it is possible to get it that young. Anyone know anything about this?

  • yeah, take him to a different ped. Kids can get strep even as infants. Bactiria doesn't discriminate, if they can find a host, they dont' care what age they are. Now if your son is breastfed, then that may be different, he may be more resistant, but can still get it.

  • Oh yes a child can get strep at 3. How bizarre your doctor would say that.

I would find a new doctor.
