So what's going to happen with prop 8?

Is it going to the California Supreme Court again? When will that happen?

Or will it go to the US Supreme Court - the one with Clarence Thomas on it?

Or will the lawsuits against it going to be thrown out?

  • Our governor just came out yesterday saying that he is going to try to get it thrown out by the courts. At the very least he wants to save the marriages of the couples that were already married. I hope he can do it!

exactly. If women right to vote would have being decided through their vote then we still would not be able to vote. and if slavery and desegragation were left up to vote, who knows what the out come might have being. Laws concerning people's rights should not be decided by votes

  • Melody, a majority population should not be allowed to vote on the rights of a minority population. That's a BAD idea no matter who the minority is. That's why the people's vote should not be heard on this issue, it shouldn't be voted on in the first place.

  • their voices cant be heard because of a phrase called the tyranny of the majority:
The phrase tyranny of the majority is a criticism of the scenario in which decisions made by a majority under that system would place that majority's interests so far above a minority's interest as to be comparable to "tyrannical" despots.

Since this issues is one based on civil rights, it needs to be addressed.

Hypothetically: If there were a proposition to vote on in this country asking to 'ban all religions other than christian religions' it would have a huge possibility of passing by a small margin. Just because it passes doesn't make it right.
