What is the best way to re-introduce my sister to the community?

My sister just moved back to our home town after living and working in another state for 25 years. She packed up everything she owned, retired from her job, and moved back. She doesnt know how to make new friends and re-connect with anyone who may still be around she knew from before. Any suggestions on what i can do to help her, other than invite her for lunch. We live in a small rural town.

  • Depends on what she likes & whats around... Does she attend church? Get her a good home church.. Does she like to do community work? Go with her to get her into the grove & introduce her.. Go out to lunch/shopping or anything fun like bowling. days at the park with your family.. Local Bingo. Spring is comming so festivals & stuff should be comming up too
Im sure in time she will find her own pace.. :-)

  • Is there a community paper that has local events for single people? Maybe she could find an event through there and she won't be the new kid on the block anymore once she gets out and starts meeting new people.

  • Look at www.meetup.com with her. Put her interests in the search bar whether it is reading, knitting, hiking, etc. She can connect with people of similar interests that way. I am glad she has you.
