  • At this point I think we need to stick with the basics. We need to fund education so the kids can go to school. We need to fund social service programs like food stamps and medicaid but I am good with a cut in TANF or some sort of reform there. I think they should reform child protective services & keep fresh workers there rather then those who collect a paycheck. We should keep funding for transportation depts as well. We should fund basically all the things we absolutely need and cannot survive without, without hurting the poor who have little options in this economy. We need to help get this country back on track.
A major thing I think we need to do is start taxing heavily companies who outsource. If they make products outside the country and bring them in there should be a HIGH tax against them.

  • They can start by STOP hiring, funding, and giving favor to their friends!!!! STOP wasting money we don't have on hidden bills... better yet stop adding hidden aspects and OUT LAW the ability to add things that have nothing to do with the bill???

  • We spend a lot of money to help other countries. While it's important to keep up a certain image, I think some of that needs to be kept here in the states to help us. Just like charities saw donations drop during this recession, our charitable donations abroad will have to decline as well.

  • On a federal level - the infrastructure behind the defense network, diplomatic relations and true interstate commerce - meaning federally maintained roads, portions of the power grid, etc. States should handle their own programs, and should not be beholden to unfunded federal mandates which suck all the money out of their system instead of leaving it to pay for things in their own states. This means there would be no federal aid for things like unemployment, but it would also mean there would never have been a reason to need it in the first place.

The real problem is that it's such a tangled mess because of those mandates you can't just slice through and say, stop funding this and not that. Everything is piggybacked so if you say stop funding this, it forces you to stop funding that and 3 other things.

  • The dept of education should go. The school system has gone down the toilet since the gov took it over. The war on poverty should end. Poverty has sky rocketed since it began. There are so many things the gov needs to get it's hands off of, it is hard to really list them all.

  • The military, the post office, and the justice department. These are really the only things they are given authority to fund in Sect 8 of the Commerce Clause. The rest of it is all BS.

  • To Go: payraises for all of the Washington crew and a reduction to no more than $100,000, take away their cadillac healthcare and put them into medicare where they will pay a monthly payment just like all seniors do, remove all access to governemnt issued vehicles for personal use, retrieve all credit cards from said employees of the people, take all access from the use of government planes for anything other than government business and no friends and family allowed, begin deducting payroll taxes from said employees of the people.
To stay: Military funding, hands off Social Security which is not funded out of the general fund, education, work on infrastructure which will create jobs, tax all companies that have gone overseas when they import to us, stop all bailouts of big companies.

  • Congress people should only be aloud to be in office for four years and there pay should get capped at some point. The president should not be getting 250,000 a year after he has already served. The fact that we keep paying for his services even though he is no longer in office is a joke. Find some way to get jobs back in the USA instead of out sourcing them!!!!!! That would solve a lot of problems for this country right there.
