Makana invested \$500 in a simple interest account that had an interest rate that was 1% more than that of her friend Marlys. If Marlys earned \$18 after one year from an investment of \$450, how much would Makana earn in 1 year?

• I think \$25. Marly earns .04 or 4 percent interest on her money. If Makana is at 5, then she will earn \$25.

It has been many, many years since I have been in the classroom, and I am assuming this is a simle APR situation.
