Do you think the Sundanace Film Festival Should be allowed State Assistance?

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97078508the film

The Sundanace festival may ask the state of Utah for financial aid.
Where is Ashton, Demi, and all the rich celebs backing this project so it doesn't HAVE to have Governmnet money?
Why should a state fork out money that it doesn't have?
Are people going to come anyway, aren't Gays telling people to Boycott Utah?
What if the state gives money, less people show, and they LOSE money?
Why isn't Hollywood "sharing" it's wealth to make sure this project has money

  • I do think The Sundance Film Festival should be allowed to get state assistance because it is owned by Robert Redford and he donatesmost of his proceeds enviromental causes.

  • No, they shouldn't get money. It's a film festival. Special events should be cancelled if they can't pay for themselves. Maybe if they auctioned off all of the swag they could make the money to pay for it.

  • 1. Your link doesn't go to the article.
    2. Sundance generates large dollars for the state in tourism - LARGE dollars. They are asking for a portion of THAT money back. If they want 10% of that tax money, sounds fine to me.
