Do you own or have owned a fancy cat litter box?

we're considering investing in an upscale cat box, one of those semi self cleaning versions. there's an AWFUL lot to choose from and they all seem to have mixed review. we only have 1 cat so we don't need anything too extreme. it's sort of a gift for the entire family. he's an older kitty (7 next month) so nothing too noisy/weird/traumatizing

is their a brand/model you either recommend or have had BAD experience with and suggest avoiding? thanks in advance

  • We have ordinary litter boxes, cheap to buy and easy to maintain . Puss won't mind whether it is a Rolls Royce box or an old pick-up truck one as long as it is cleaned often and is somewhere quiet, not in a high traffic area.. Never heard of a self-cleaning one , must be some fab new invention . Like a self-cleaning oven ?

Older kitty ? At 7 ? He would not be pleased about that . He is in his prime !. Our old tomcat is 16, splenid old gentleman . he still goes out to patrol his territory when the weather is decent .
