When Should u Prepare for the arrival of ur baby??

I'm 34 weeks along and the only thing I've purchased so far is a crib. We plan to buy more stuff of course but we're trying to see what other people will get us first. Is that a bad idea??

  • I would get some more basics. How much useful stuff do you really think people are going to give you?

    Things I would get now:

    car seat
    A few onesies.
some bottles (in case you can't breast feed)
diapers (lots! they go through more than you think!)
    diaper disposal (or pail)
    crib sheets
    a couple of blankets

Other than that, you can probably wing it and pick up useful things.

    A few things I couldn't live without:

    baby swing
sling (I never used a stroller until she was too big for a sling)
    playtex drop ins when travelling
a backpack (instead of a diaper bag---I thought the diaper bag was useless)

and probably a few other things I've forgotten, but that's just off the top of my head.

  • A car seat is really important... you can't leave the hospital without one. I would figure you would have just about everything by now... at 34 weeks I'd be more concerned if your hospital bag is packed yet.

  • I am 35 weeks and feeling somewhat unprepared. We chose not to find out what we were having this time around so if its a boy i have everything because i have a 2 year old son and if its a girl well i dont really have anything lol i would have everything i need of course just in boy decor haha

  • Not a bad idea to wait at all.. I waited for most of my stuff also! but i never hurts to get some essentials just in case. :) You can never be TOO prepared! Good luck!
