Wht would you do if your instructor had a person who didnt have defensive driving drive the school van?

we have a pharmacy field trip coming up and the instructor didnt want to drive the 12 passenger van so she allowed a student in our class to drive and this student does not have the proper license to drive "public" transportation. the whole clss is upset about this person driving. no one trusts her driving. we had brought it up to the instructor and her response was show and go on the van or get a zero and be stuck with writing an essay. any advice?

  • I would call your local Dept. of Transportation. They will tell you if a license is required. If it is, then speak to the Dean. They will put an end to that crap right away. Don't let instructors push you around. If there isn't a license required and you don't trust this person, drive yourself, and anyone else who doesn't want to ride the bus. They can't force you to ride a bus. If you show up at the location of the field trip, regardless of mode of travel, the instructor cannot give you a zero.

  • I didn't think you needed a special license to drive a van.

  • in the state i live in we have to take defensive driving which is a 20 hr course in order to drive passengers around for any business. if it would of been her private van and not on school time then no. i used to work for a group home here and to even drive the company car and take "patients" around i had to take that course. my defensive driving has since then expired since it needs to be renewed every 3 years here. it doesnt matter wht kind of vechical it is as long as its used to haul students, patients, daycare kids, ect the driver needs to have that defensive driving course. this woman never took defensive driving and didnt even know what it was when a few of us asked her if she had it. ....hope that makes some sense
