How can I get a two year old to want to go potty?

She has no interest in it even though she tells us after she goes and likes big girl panties she doesn't want to use the toilet or potty seat

  • She sounds like she on track to getting ready. Give her some time. I know it's no fun changing diapers, but it really won't last forever.

  • Id say give her some time.. BUT.. you could also try using mini M&M's to bribe her. lol. I have heard that works WONDERS when it comes to potty training.

  • Relax and take the pressure is counter productive. The less you care about the outcome, the better and quicker it will happen. If you do NOTHING, she will potty train herself simply because it is the natural course of things to want to do what mommy does. In the mean time, focus on teaching her how to get herself dressed and undressed (particularly bottoms) and teach her how to wash her hands on her own. • ...accident just give her new pants and panties and let her change herself. (because you've already taught her to dress and undress). Good Luck!

  • My husband got obsessed with one of those potty training boot camp books and we learned just like everyone else that will only work when they are ready. If you push too hard, they push right back and it gets harder the more you push. If you think she is physically ready there are tons of great books and videos that might peak her interest (even found one at the library). The biggest thing that got my son inclined to use the potty were watching his peers and wanting to be like them. No one child is going to decide to use the potty for the same reason. You'll find the groove.
