I am reading lots of questions that have all these abbreviations..like: bm, dh, sm, bd, btw, bb and ss. I am a newcomer,and am totally lost by all of this. Please somebody..clue me in.

Help with the lingo.

  • BM and BD are "birth" Mom/ "birth" Dad
    BTW: By the way
    DH, DS, DD: "dear" husband, son, daughter
    SM, SD, SS, would be "step" Mom, daughter/dad and son

    Some of them I did NOT know before making this post. I found the answer by just doing a search for them here on Cafemom.

  • they are stupid. i dont bother using them. i can not stand people who "text type" on cafe mom or any other bulletin type website. so annoying. who actually says out loud "my darling daughter" or "my darling son" or any of those? i seriously cringe when i read them. ha!
