Temp. in kids- what is the limit to stay home from school

I hope I worded that right and wondering how high or how low to keep home from school. Is 100 a stay home or school? What is the cut for your kids schools? Plus I know temp free for 24 hours and I do not mind to keep them home an extra day but husband will send her tomorrow if temp is down low. What do you do? plus send back to early immune system still down? Thanks for the help.

  • I think you should keep them home for any fever. If she had a very low grade today and no fever tonight then I would send her tomorrow. I wouldn't send my dd unless she had NO fever for 12 hours. A temp of 100 is still sick and she needs to be home resting.

  • Anything over 100.4 and they can't remain at school here. That is also the guideline our pediatrics clinic used. It isn't even considered a 'fever" until it reaches 100.4.

  • Fever is fever. Don' t send a child out with a fever.

  • 100. It's important they go to school and anything lower than 100 is not a fever.

  • I think over 100 is the guideline.

  • NORMALLY at our school they will let them come in as long as they are under 101.5, but that recently changed with the flu epidemic going around. Now they cannot come or stay at school unless they have been fever free 24 hours without any tylenol or motrin and the fever has to be under 100.4

  • any thing over 100.5 with another symptom is stay home. Anything else up to 100.4 is without any other symptom is go to school. My kids are prone to idiopathic low grade fevers.
