When recording temps can you use a regular thermometer?

  • I always have, and it works for me. As long as you do it correctly, at the same time and before you get out of bed and all that, you should be able to see the differences in your chart. It's always been clear as day to me.

  • You can, but you get a much more accurate reading using a BBT thermometer. You can get them from pretty much any drug store and I've even seen them at places like Walmart. Some women only get very slight variations in their temps, while others can see obvious differences with a regular thermometer. I always recommend the BBT just to be on the safer side.
