Is ObamaCare damaging the healthcare system?

This writer seems to think so ~ (follow link)

The most significant change is a wave of frantic consolidation in the health industry. Because the law mandates that insurers accept all patients regardless of pre-existing conditions, insurers will not make money with their current premium and provider-payment structures. As a result, they have already started to raise premiums and cut payments to doctors and hospitals. Smaller and weaker insurers are being forced to sell themselves to larger entities.

  • That article didn't make me feel better. I think Obamacare is probably the single worse legislation we have ever passed as a country besides Prohibition.

  • As LoriK said, Even though O'care has not been fully implemented... Our h/c ins. went up several thousand dolars this year, so WOW, I can't wait to see what happens next year... not!

Obamacare is a rip off unless you get h/c for FREE and most who get it FREE, are not at all concerned with the WHO that is paying for their FREE. Nothing is FREE, someone has to pay for it...

  • Even though ObamaCare hasn't been fully implemented, YES, ObamaCare WILL hurt insurance companies, so seeing the proverbial writing on the wall, the companies are preparing for their pending losses and potential bankruptcies if it does go forward and become fully implemented. And I don't blame them!!

  • ~*YES*~... and those that can barely afford to eat in our country will be hitextremely HARD!!! If they choose to eat over medcine already who in their right mind thinks they can afford the $1k fine for not having insurance??? And those that actually follow it would know this if they weren't pretending it would be a free ride??? Nope, just means they can raise insurance rates and fine you for not having it... WAKE UP

  • That explains why yours is slowly collapsing. Just stupid people haven't the sense to realize it yet.

  • I think the unknowns are causing practitioners, insurers and COs to make changes in anticipation of what MIGHT occur.

BO should have focused on the economy...big mistake.

  • Is it? It already has! I feel so sorry for some of our patients when they come to pick up their prescriptions and they can't afford it because they need food or pay utilities. This is America for Christ sake, we need to get someone in office that can ACTUALLY fix this mess Obama has gotten us in!
