Income tax returns. no income but have a child

i haven't been employed since 2009. i made no income at all last year but i had a child in the summer of last year. i live with my boyfriend, he makes the income. can i still file even though i made no income? i'm not married and have a child

  • No, but he should claim the child, unless your on some sort of assistance for housing and such, if so he shouldn;t!

  • OK, well he could claim you too if you lived with him all year and he paid more than half of your expenses.

  • why would i have to put it in my original post? the fact that he's my boyfriend and not my husband automatically means the child can't be his??? i had her 7 months ago. you seriously think i would have some random boyfriend that i'm living with along with a child.
