  • I just do it the "normal" way lay ground beef on bottom of casserole dish, top with corn (cream corn is really yummy with it!) then add layer of mashed potatoes. Sometimes we sprinkle some cheese (parm usually) on the top of it all. Add things to the potatoes if you'd like sometimes I cook broc then puree it & mix with the potatoes you could do that with any veggie. SO's mom adds in greenbeans etc to her shepards pie. Play around with it, google up some interesting mashed potatoe recpies & try those in your pie as well! Go wild have fun with it!

  • Nothing Special... come from a family where all males go into the military, and they serve it in mess halls!

Make mashed potatoes, sprinkle corn, and the hamburger meat with brown gray...

  • Shepherd's Pie

    3 medium potatoes
1/4 cup milk or nondairy milk
    1 Tablespoon butter or margarine
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    pinch of paprika
    1 onion, chopped
    1 Tablespoon oil
    1 lb. tofu, crumbled
    1/4 lb. mushrooms, sliced
    1 green pepper, diced
    2 medium carrots, diced
3/4 cup chopped fresh tomatoes, canned tomatoes
    1 stalk celery, diced
    1 bay leaf
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 cup frozen or fresh corn

Boil or steam the potatoes. Mash with butter, milk and salt. Set
aside. Meanwhile, Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Saute the onion a few minutes. Add all filling ingredients except the corn. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer 15 minutes, till vegetables are tender. Put filling in a large baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes on top and sprinkle with paprika. Bake 10 or 15 minutes, till potatoes are hot.
