How much does it cost to heat your house?

What size is your house? What area do you live in? What heat source do you use? Thanks a ton!

  • We use just under 400 gallons of oil a year, the house is 1000 sq foot, forced air, and we live in PA. So at $2/gallon it's about $800 a year.

  • We have 2800 square feet. We have programmable thermostats (for upstairs and downstairs heating units) that we keep at about 65 degrees during the day and 55 degrees at night or when we're gone. It's a forced air system. We were paying nearly $300/month from late November through the first part of this month. It's been warm enough in the last couple of weeks to turn off the heat and have the windows open.
