Knees cracking??

Anyone know why a persons knees crack? We moved into a house with stairs in November and my knees STILL crack every single time I walk upstairs. I am in my 30's, work out and am only slightly over weight. Other than having my 2 kids 15mo apart, I can't imagine what could cause it. They don't hurt, just sound like rice crispies.

  • Really? At this age. I hope their is no wear & tear of the knee. A visit to a orthopaedician is a must.....

  • It's air pockets. The same reason your knuckles crack. It's not anything alarming or due to your weight, its just loose joints that get air pockets in them. If its in conjunction with pain/swelling there's more to the story, but just a cracking sound, nothing to worry about.

  • Ps I'm 23 and my knees have cracked going up the stairs since I was a young child. I remember being in junior high walking in the hallway stairs alone hearing the snap crackle pop. It happens. My friend is 24, hers do the same thing on her house stairs. We're both healthy and not even close to being overweight. Don't panic :)
