Did you need stitches after giving birth?

I was just wondering....I have known women who did not need one single stitch after birth. I needed a couple....were you cut or did you rip? Although it has been awhile since giving birth.....the pain of ripping ...ouch......

  • I had stiches with my first 7lb baby and none with my second 9lb baby! Actaully the second was so much easier and I really contribute it to not having the stitches and pain to contend with after!

  • I was cut and stitched. It's not a big deal but I hated it. That was probably the worst part of labor to be honest!!! I got lucky and had an easy pregnancy

  • I did with one birth (less natural).

But with the next birth I had an intact perineum~ pretty good for a ten-pounder!
There are ways to do it.

  • I was cut with my firstborn.  I had to have a few stitches inside and where they cut.  With my 2nd born I ripped, A LOT easier recovery, no stitches.  I ripped with my 2nd on the episiotomy that was done with my first.  With my 3rd I didn't rip at all.  I had a "skid mark" as my midwife called it.  Nothing major.

  • I ripped and I needed stitches. I don't remember feeling pain when I ripped, but I remember my Dr putting in the stitches.

  • I ripped and had stitches but I was so numb from the epidural I didn't know until my mom told me like a day later, and I felt nothing, the ripping or the stitching.

  • Yeah I think I had 4 stitches, so not too bad.
