How long does it take for suppositories to kick in?

Doc just called some in for DD because she's still having hard stool. Should I keep her by the bathroom after I give her one? I have a feeling this will be a difficult night.

  • They work faster than an oral medication as the wall of the intestine absorbs it almost instantly. I don't think the suppository will give her a runny stool. It may be the kind that causes the intestine walls to create more lubricant to make it easier for her to go. Look the name of the suppository up on the web. You can find out what kindit is so you will know how her body will react to it.
