1 Bump

Is this reasonable??

A lady called me today bc she wants me to care for her child two days a week, for four hours a day...just to socialize him. I was thinking of charging 7 dollars an hour, but dh says I should charge 9, if not, then its not worth it.

How much should I charge??

  • the average for daycare providers is $25 for a full day (8-10 hours), and they do more than just babysit. I would say $20 is more than reasonable for 4 hours.

  • Holy crap $9.00 seriously??? How old is this child? Are you feeding or providing transportation???? I'm sorry but even 7 seems super steep....it may be the area I live in but that's almost minimum wage....I would go with 7 before I would go with 9.

  • The child is 2, I would feed him snacks, and just play with him. We live in Florida....

  • Honestly, either rate would be fine. Especially if you're providing snacks/nap times/diapers etc. $7/$9 is more than reasonable for 4 hours and 2 days a week, if it were anymore than that I would go with the daycare rate.
