Would you switch to a booster seat?

My daughter will be 3 in May and is 38 lbs now. She barely fits in her car seat. It's a Britax and is supposed to Hold up to 65 lbs but it is snug.

  • Is there a minimum height that she is close to. Personally, I don't intend to switch to a booster until I absolutely have to. My daughter is 5, 42 pounds, 42" tall and is still in a 5-point harness...and will remain that way until I am forced to switch.

  • There are NO seats (that are not special needs seats) that HARNESS to 100 lbs. The seat shown will BOOSTER to 100 lbs, but not in the harness, the harness goes to 65 lbs. OP, NO, I would not booster.

  • ^^^^^
Just to clarify for the OP...the carseat that is being discussed is only 5-point harness approved for up to 65 pounds

  • Depending on what her torso height is and your budget there are other seats that you could put her in that harness anywhere from 50-85 lbs. The evenflo maestro harnesses to 50 lbs. and is supposed to make a pretty good booster when she's ready. I have heard it is pretty cheap and can be found around $80 or so. The graco nautilus and safety first complete air harness up to 65 lbs. The nautilus in some cases can make an okay booster seat the problem is that it doesn't fit all kids well so it just depends on how it fits her. These two are somewhere around $150 maybe a little more or less. All of these seats I believe have an 18" harness height. So if you sit her on the floor and measure from her butt to her shoulder you will know where she is with torso height. The last one is the Britax Frontier 85 which harnesses up to 85 lbs. This seat is awesome and is supposed to make a great booster. It can be found for around 207
