Dh got his wisdom tooth pulled today...what the dentist didn't know lol

while i was sitting with dh in the recovery room, the dentist  walked in, gave me a sheet of paper to look over and said he'd be right back to talk it over with me. while waiting, i read the paper, and it said he was to eat only things he can't chew, like yogurt, pudding, applesauce, ect. in other words, a solid liquid diet. right? so here's the conversation i had with the dentist about this specific diet when he got back:

Me: I see he's supposed to have a solid liquid diet for a couple of days

Him: no, he can't eat food he has to chew

Me: right, things like yogurt, applesauce, ect

Him: Right

Me: right. a solid liquid diet

Him: no, things he can't chew. nothing solid.

Me: yeah, that's called a solid liquid diet. I had to be on one after i had my kids

Him: hhhmm...never heard of that, or of any doctor that's called it that.

I left it alone at that and just changed the subject. i still can't believe it. a dentist never hearing of such a thing???

P.S. i was at a loss at what category to put it under lol

  • I'm a nurse and there is no such thing as a solid liquid diet. It is a Clear liquid diet...or a FULL liquid diet. Clear liquid only things you can see through like broth and jello. Full liquid includes things like ice cream that are liquid at room temp. Pudding, and yougurt fall in this diet. Applesauce depends on the dietician you talk too. But generally isn't allowed until progression to a soft diet is allowed. Other types include lowfat, restricted fiber, diabetic, low sodium, lactose free.

  • Some call it a pocketbook, others call it a purse. Some call it dinner, others call it supper. It all depends on a variety of things. Just because he has never heard of a solid-liquid diet (I have never heard it called that either. I even googled it and found nothing), doesn't mean that he is stupid or not a good dentist.

  • Solid is not liquid. That's what he was saying. What you are meaning is SEMI-SOLID. All liquid would be just fruit juice, broth, liquid jello.
