  • For me, yes. For two reasons: One, it's a time to rest. Two: It's a time to remember what God has done and to worship Him. It's so easy these days to get bogged down with life's responsibilities. Our schedules are so full that it's easy to get distracted. Keeping the Sabbath allows me to stop, take a deep breath, and simply enjoy His presence.

  • Genesis Chapter 2 "Thus the heavens and the earth and all their array were completed. Since on the seventh day God was finished with the work the had been doing, he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation."
Exodus 20:8 "Remember to keep holy the sabbath day"
Exodus 31:12-17 "The Lord said to Moses "You must also tell the Israelites: Take care to keep my sabbaths, for that is to be the token between you and me throughout the generations, to show that it is I, the Lord, who make you holy. • ...Israiltes it is to be an everlasting token; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day he rested at his ease."
Deuteronomy 5:12-Take care to keep holy the sabbath day as the Lord, your God, commanded you. Six days you may labor and do all your work; but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord, your God. No work may be done then, whether by you, or your son or daughter or your male or female slave, or your ox or ass or any of your beasts, or the alien who lives with you. Your male and female slave should rest as you do. For remember that you too were once slaves in Egypt, and the Lord, your God, brought you from there with his strong hand and outstretched arm. That is why the Lord, your God, has commanded you to observe the sabbath day."

  • Haven't we learned by now that the bible is a buffet to take the bits and pieces that serve us in the moment. Sabbath isn't very convienient for the busy consumer driven american life so it seems most just ignore it. Plus fighting gay marriage is so much more important *rolls eyes*
