How can someone handle this for so long? (venting)

there's this 18 year old girl i know just from meeting her on a forum, shes a sweet heart and very silly, we met up last weekend and she was asking me questions about her pregnancy and what the doctors would do, shes 4 months along, and then i notice she looked kinda sad, so we started talking about home stuff and she told me how her dad tells her to get an abortion every single time he's mad at her and how just the day before he comes home pissed off and takes it out on her and the baby stuff her and her fiance bought that day and threw it on the floor, then i asked her if he does it alot or if he's ever hit her, shes been getting hit since she was 8 by him, has a pencil tip stuck in her throat because he shoved her down the hall way when she was 8, and i started to wonder how someone that goes through all of that never talked to a social worker.....she did....they told her that it was all her fault he was hitting her...i thought she was lying at first, she told me the whole story and i couldnt believe they said that to her just because she was 5 minutes late to her dads car on Halloween when she was in 6th grade doesnt mean he could slam her head into the car window and call her a bitch

im so scared for her but the sad thing is she doesnt want to leave because shes afraid her dad will take away her medical, she would much rather live with her dad and get mentally abused then live with her mom and just deal with cigarettes,im also surprised at how happy and bubbly she almost always is

im just venting about this...its been on my mind and i needed to type it out

  • That's terrible. I hope she can get out of that scary situation, especially for her baby.

  • That is so sad. I hope you can continue to be there for her, if anything atleast she has you for support or to talk to. Hopefully, she will move out soon if not for her own sake for the sake of that baby.
