  • Keep her on leash with the correction collar on. When she starts to chew on what she shouldn't, give the leash a quick pop and release accompanied by a firm no. Then, give her something she's allowed to chew. In addition, make her toys more challenging. Get the kongs you can stuff treats or peanut butter in or even take an empty soda bottle, poke some treat sized holes in it and fill it with treats. She'll love trying to get the treats out. My dogs would do this for hours. Dogs are very intelligent and crave mental stimulation. She should enjoy the challenge of it and then, the couch won't seem so appealing.

  • Is your dog a puppy?

  • I would use bitter apple spray. It worked on my lab puppy. She sneezed everytime and didn't go towards it anymore. It was great.

  • Crate the dog when you can't have your eyes on him/her at the time. Had to do it with mine when she was a puppy and stopped when she grew out of that phase.

  • You can isolate him in an area on his leash, i.e. in the kitchen.
You can be around him FOR SOME TIME, i.e. while watching tv.
You can test him by pouring SALT on an object of his vicinity.

Every time he chews something, tell him NO in a determined, steady voice.
SHOW HIM WHO'S THE BOSS, he he !

  • she's almost 2. tried the sprays, didn't bother her. I keep her in a small room. she has plenty of toys and treats, but she chews the couch instead.

  • crate train her, with her toys being the only thing in the cage.

  • P.S. Make sure you take the correction collar off when she goes in her crate or when you can't watch her because if she gets caught on something she can panic and strangle herself with it.
