Homeostasis is often a term utilized with family systems. The family gets comfortable with a certain way of behaving and when something in the system changes, they get uncomfortable and they scamble to get things back to the way they were, or maintain homeostasis.
Example: A long-term drug addict decides to get sober. Members of the family will often activate and take steps to get in the way of treatment to get things back to the they normal pattern of usage and enabling. The "unkown" of the change causes anxiety, and, thus, the impetus to return to homeostatis.
Can you use a behavioral or do you need a biological?
