My son wants me to knit him a sweater. I can't knit. Is there an easy way to learn?

  • Check out ese websites as well: www.knittinghelp.com and www.ravelry.com. They will be great resources. One of my first projects was a sweater for my son. YOu can do it!

  • As you are learning, start with a few easy projects, like simple scarves. For your first sweater, you will increase your chances of success if you:
    - pick a sweater pattern that is designed for beginners
    - use a smooth, untextured yarn (yarns with slubby uneven texture or fuzzy yarns can be tricky for beginners)
    - do your gauge swatch first, to be sure the size will come out as intended
    - use a pattern that calls for large (10 - 13) size needles. It will knit up faster.
Enlist the help of a knowledgeable friend or yarn/craft store employee that you can check in with periodically, to be sure you're on the right track. GL :-)
