My family wants to plan an affordable vacation. Everytime we plan the price goes up to at leas 3,000. Can anyone give me some advice on an affordable but fun vacation for a family my size? Thanks

  • We have 6 kids and rarely get away, because we're not weathly. Best thing I could recommend is camping, but it depends on the age of the kids. Alternatively, look into day trips to tourist places.

  • When all my kids were home our 'vacations' always included camping and a cool national park. I love camping though.

  • I'd say don't go too far from home. Where are you located? We LOVE camping.

  • I am not an outdoors person, but I guess I could try camping. How much does it normally run?

  • Look for area campgrounds that rent trailers or mobile type homes.... When we go "camping" we rent this type to have the conveniences but still gets the nature part as well. Usually you can rent those things for around $500 a week around us.

  • How about the Great Lakes- camping or beach time?

  • Michigans bech towns on Lake Michigan are great. If you have not camped before getting started is an investment!!!
I would look into renting a cabin or beach house. If you could get to a Port and went at the right time You can cruise pretty cheap- get 2 adjoining inside cabins. food and entertainment is paid for. But I think you would still end up with 3000$ That's only 500$ PP. You could check out Family Vacation Critic.com They could give some ideas.
