# How do the weeks and months go in pregnancy?

So I just assumed that 21 weeks = 5 months and 1 week, but I just read this online. Is this true or am I right?

1st Month = Weeks 1,2,3,4
2nd Month = Weeks 5,6,7,8
3rd Month = Weeks 9,10,11,12,13
4th Month = Wks 14,15,16,17
5th Month = Wks 18,19,20,21
6th Month = Wks 22,23,24,25,26
7th Month = Wks 27,28,29,30
8th Month = Wks 31,32,33,34,35
9th Month = Wks 36,37,38,39,40

• This looks accurate. A great book for a new mother is What to Expect When You're Expecting.

• I remember that problem coming up in a pregnancy group I belonged to (I-am-pregnant) which BTW is an excellent site for mothers-to-be. Our consensus after discussing it was that there is no real consensus and does it really matter?? I know how it is to obsess about such things when you're counting down the days, but just relax. It doesn't matter that some people count it differently. No one way is "right" or "wrong", just be aware that some people count it differently.

• That is right but it feels like an eternity.

• I actually counted it as Month 1=weeks 1-4 month 2 starts at week 8, month 3 starts on week 12, month 4 starts on week 16, month 5 starts on week 20, months 6 starts on week 24, month 7 starts on week 28, month 8 starts on week 32, month 9 STARTS on week 36 and ends on week 40. You are really pregnant for UP TO 10 months :)
