i have a 3 1/2 year old girl. i'm having a horrible time trying to potty train her. she is very resistant when it comes to using the potty. i have her in panties during the day and diapers at night. she will just cry or play around. she uses the potty sometimes and i give her praise for it. i don't want to have to use the reward approach because she will get too use to getting rewards and began to get angry if she doesn't get a reward. what should i do?

  • Is she responsible for cleaning up her own messes (with supervision of course). She is certainly old enough for mopping up, spritzing on cleaner, and wiping that up.

  • Maybe when you give her a meal during the day giver her a big drink and then 10 minutes after she eats put her on the potty and make her stay there until she pees. You leave the bathroom and keep it cracked so you can see her. Check in on her and when she finally does something sing a song and give her a high-5. This helped for my kid. She was off and on until I made her go. Now she lets me know while up 100% of the time.
