Are you concerned with a possible government shutdown?

The President has a budget on the table in the amount of 3.7 TRILLION dollars. The republicans say that budget needs some slashing and a government shutdown at the end of this week is possible. Are you concerned about this possiblity?

  • Nope. The services that are mandated by law must go on. The Soc. Sec. checks must go out. I've lived through a gov't shut down before. The only people that felt the 'pinch' were those who were furloughed during the imposed vacation. These were the 'non-essential' employees. The gov't will run on. Now, the $3.7 trillion budget doesn't look like our pres. is serious about cutting back. He renamed spending to investing and on we go. Why didn't he pass a budget last year when he had the golden 'supper majority'. I don't think he knew how to write the budget. My worse fear is that he doesn't seem to understand he had to write a budget. But, his lack of action is somehow the repubs fault?! No, you can try to float that boat, but you'd better have a life preserver. Your boat is going to sink.

  • If anything, a shut down, will only highlight the fact that there are more people doing redundant jobs than is truly necessary

  • According to Obama, if the government shuts down, social security checks won't go out... Even though it is a lie, It's good that he is fear mongering or ignorant.... No, I am not worried about a government shutdown.... It's time to take quite a few steps BACK in spending... Force departments to lean out.. They can't operate the way they have for all these years... Our nation cannot sustain current government spending.

Well then, we probably won't even notice if they DID shut down!! LOL Plenty of non-essential employees to be had!!! If anything, a shut down, will only highlight the fact that there are more people doing redundant jobs than is truly necessary! If you're a non-essential employee, you would think you would only be drawing more attention to the fact that your job isn't needed! :o)

  • I do believe that the Progressives are hoping to shut down; they think they will get brownie points by placing the failure on the Republicans...

  • I kinda wish they would shut down for a month or 2...we could save a lot of money simply by sending them home.

  • I agree with everything you just said, foreverb3. If the people who made the decisions weren't on expense accounts and had to pay out-of-pocket, things would be done very differently.
