# Investing question..

An investment of \$12,250 is divided into two accounts, one for stocks and one for mutual funds. The value of the stock account is \$2000 less than twice the value of the mutual fund account.

Find the amount in the stock account.

my answer was \$10,250....what did you get and how do u get your answer?

• \$10,250 Divide 12,250 by 2 and got 6,125. Multiply 6,125 by 2 and get at your starting amount of 12, 250 and subtract 2,000 gets your answer of 10,250.

I found how much was in the mutual account first with this formula: xÛ2000=12250 .... x=4750 in mutual
4750 x 2=9500-2000 = 7500
