How soon can tubes be put in a baby's ear?

my ds is 7 months old and has ahad a double ear infection for over a month. and none of the antibiotics are helping. my dd who is now 5, had a similar problem but they didnt put them in until she was over a year old. she is still struggling with speech because of the hearing issues from the infections.

  • A baby in our church just turned 4 months and she's getting tubes put in this Friday - but the reason they're doing it is because she hasn't passed a hearing test yet, and she has fluid behind the drums - they're doing it to drain the fluid and see if she passes a hearing test, because if she doens't they need to look into nerve damage, etc, so that if she really is deaf they can start looking into hearing aides, etc. So some docs will do it really young, in extreme cases, but others won't do it til they're older.
