Early ultrasound

I will be getting my first ultrasound next Wednesday. By LMP that puts me at 11 weeks. Do you think they'll still do the u/s vaginally?? My 5yr old SS might come with and I really don't wanna explain that one yet lol

  • If they can't get a good measurement they will... I havent' gotten an US that didn't involve a transvaginal us too.

  • It's possible but not likely. I would call and ask.

  • Usually they won't do a vaginal ultrasound unless they have a hard time seeing things. As was the case with me.

  • Make sure to drink LOTS of water beforehand, it makes it easier to see things :)

  • I remembering being told to come to the ultrasound with a full bladder with my now 4 year old. Her older brother came along, he was 3.5 at the time. That wasn't the best idea we had, but we wanted him to be as much a part of the new baby as possible. He wound up having nightmares for a few days afterward even though he spent most of his time on the other side of the room, apparently not paying any attention to what was going on.

  • at 11 weeks you should be good for external. I had an external at a little less than 10 last time and I'm a little "fluffy"/
