Milk letting down fairly painful?

I had my baby Feb 4th and when my milk lets down it HURTS!

I sort of have to stop what I am doing and grin and bear it.

If I am in front of someone or in public I have to try hard to act normal.

Is this ok...this is my 3rd baby and I dont remember the let down hurting this much or for this long....

  • I am pretty sure that is normal . . . it was for me, anyway. I also, though, had a lot of issues with plugged milk ducts and mastitis . . . when those would act up, the let down hurt more.

  • Oh, I remember that! My letdown was terrible for a few months! It did eventually ease up and disappear.

  • That never happend with me unless i went too long with out nursing. I am still nursing my 10month old now and i dont feel pain at all.

  • I only remember this happening the first week or so after my milk came in. I would think by now it should not be hurting. Also if it is different than what you remember from your others then it is probably not normal for you.
