I want to make hummus but what is tahini?

It is a sesame paste but can I get it at my local grocer? Does it say tahini or sesame paste?

Should I skip it or what do you use?

Thanks!

  • Sorry. I should have elaborated more. Lol!

It will most likely be called sesame paste in your grocery store unless you have one of those "ethnic foods" sections in whch case it could be under tahini.

  • i don't like the tahini-so i usually skip it. i use garlic and chickpeas. I just toss them in the food processor.

i've also mixed the chickpeas with some honey and peanut butter. it was pretty good.

  • It will be located by the peanut butter and almond butter. It says tahini on it. I don't skip it, but it is VERY strong.
