What kind of Children's Books do you read to your children?

Just curious...I read Dr. Suess, and there is this one book my mom used to read to me and my sis, its from back in the 80's and its a big book with hundreds of short stories, I loved it and my kids love it, even tho my DD tore it up when he was playing in his room :(

  • My dad bought my son a bunch of Elmo books that teach him colors, shapes, #s, letters, sharing, etc. He loves for me to read them and him repeat what I say so its like hes reading it too. :) Its fun!

  • My son loves the Marley books and Peanuts books. He's only 19 months old, so he can't have the books with paper pages when he's by himself. I bought him lots of board books so he can't tare them up--and you can wipe them clean with a Clorox Wipe! When my fist son was little, he loved the Amelia Bedeliah books. I'm really looking forward to reading them to my LO when he gets a bit older.

  • All kinds...I think he has over 100 books now! It's ridiculous, but we get a lot of reading in when he's trying to delay nap time and bedtime. ;-) We love Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle books. Maurice Pledger makes some great nature related pop up books (Ocean, Rainforest, etc), but sometimes they're hard to find. We have some Curious George books, Sesame Street books, just general books on letters, numbers, shapes, etc. We have books that are usually pretty popular with kids like Goodnight Moon, Corduroy, The Little Engine that Could, and Llama Llama Red Pajama. I especially love one called Beckett and the Panda-Monium by Cynthia Platt. It's really cute.

  • We have a huge bookshelf downstairs and one in his room - I couldn't begin to count how many books he has! His favorites right now are anything with animals or Thomas. He has always liked Brown Bear Brown Bear, but now that he's 2 we are reading more books with longer stories in them and also books like Dr. Seuss that are great "first readers" (I learned to read at 3 by memorizing the Dr. Seuss books and then matching up the words I was saying with the ones on the page)
