Does anyone give their toddler soda/carbonated beverages?

I do w/ my DD & DS but not too much. If I have a glass of soda they will drink it no matter where I put it. I kinda don't like them to but its only a couple sips here and there throughout the week bcuz I don't drink much soda myself.

  • No. He doesn't need it yet, not even as a "treat". I don't drink it anyway, and although he has stolen a few sips from the cups my husband left on a table or somewhere, I've never intentionally given it to him and don't plan to until he is older and asks to try it. It's not something I ever intent to introduce myself.

  • My kids are 11, 7, 5 and 8 months old, of course my 8 month old does not get to indulge in the carbonated, caffinated goodness lol
My older 3 are allowed only when we go out or as a once in a while treat at home.

  • When we go out to eat, my son will get sprite. Sometimes he will take a drink of my pepsi if we are at the mall or something. I don't think I've ever given him soda when we have been home. He just turned 4.

  • no but i don't drink sodas either so it's never in the house. like........once or twice a year we will buy soda for mixing drinks if we're having people over but in general, we drink water, or juice if we're sick. soda is, imo, retarded and gross.

  • No, but I'm not a big soda drinker either. I've let him try Coke and Sprite before, but he was actually turned off by the bubbles.

  • Unwise. Apart from the sugar, sodas contain phosphoric acid which can hinder bone development . I ave never allowed mine sodas and now they are older they have no taste for it .

  • My son has pop on rare occasions... for example when we visited family this past weekend we went out to eat... his cousins are allowed soda on a regular basis and they of coarse had it with their meal... so to avoid a major melt down we let my son have some too.
We see pop, juice, candy and cookies at all the same level... we allow them as a special treat now and then.
