What are you growing this year?

I am getting ready to start my annual veggy garden. So far I am doing tomatoes, lettuce, green beans, and cucumbers. I will be looking into adding more things to keep cost of food down on our grocery bill. What are you growing this year?

  • It'll be a while before I can even think about planting (usually mid-late May is when we plant, which technically is still to early but oh well).

We'll for sure be planting potatoes, sweet corn, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, bell peppers

Maybe planting carrots, spinach, kale, onions, snow peas

And I'll see what else looks good when I go seed shopping. Our garden is already huge but not big enough!

And we also have rhubarb that we planted last year that grew well, so hopefully this year it does well enough that we can actually use a little. We also planted a blueberry bush and a raspberry bush last year, hopefully they survived the awful winter and we can start harvesting from them in a year or two!

  • Oh yes, we did eggplant last year too and of course I forgot peppers, red and green. I may do more types of peppers for fun, they freeze so easy too.

  • I always grow tomatoes and basil. Other than that, I haven't thought about it yet.

  • Definitely tomatoes, cukes, and I was thinking of dabbling in lettuce. I definitely like growing my own, but usually end up with a pretty sad sight for a garden. We have a ton of snow up here in the NE, so I was just thinking this morning that I might hold off on planting my seedlings a little longer this year, since it will take maybe a little longer for the ground to thaw.

  • I had great success with sugary and roma tomatoes last year, will definitely do those again. Also cucumbers, broccoli, brussels sprouts, squash, maybe some onions and I'd like to try potatoes this year. My lettuce didn't do great last year, not sure if I'll try that again. On my deck I do an herb garden, parsley, basil, etc. Will do strawberries too. Can't wait for spring!

  • I did lettuce last year and it was kinda weak LOL. Strawberries sound good! I am thinking of adding egg plant too.

  • Not 100% sure for this year, but we always have tomatoes and peppers in the veggie garden. My flower garden has zinnias. My herb garden - rosemary, basil, oregano, marjoram, and sage.
