How long and what kind should i do?

okay i have decided that i am going to start a diet. i am also going to start exercising so i need to know what excerises are most effective and how long each day should i do them?

  • If you havent been very active till now you should start with walking for like 30 min a day. From what Ive read your body burns fat faster in the daytime so maybe in the am would be better but whenever you get time would be better than nothing also work out videos are pretty cheap these days find one you like. When you get used to the walking you can add weights or walk longer or even start jogging.

  • i was thinking more of what i can just do around the house right now. with me running everyone here and there i dont have time to walk. plus i have a lil one so until the weather warms i wont be able to take her. like i have a flight of stairs can i do the step thing does that really work for your legs.

  • Try and get some kind of cardio in every day (even if only 10 min) whether that's walking, stairs, jumping jacks whatever gets your heart rate up. If you only have 10 min at a time, try 10 min 3x time a day. Add in strength training 2 - 3 times a week because more muscle = faster metabolism. You can do squats, push ups (girl kind) lunges and any body weight exercises w/o buying equipment. Also, check online for routines (you tube is great!) and places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Ross have exercise equipment for VERY cheap.

  • Minimum of 30 minutes per day....then work your way up to 45 to an hour. Planks are great for the core, Elliptical, circuit training....a good mix of cardio one day, weight training the next.

  • It really depends on you. For me, I like cardio, strength training, and yoga.

  • You can try going up and down the stairs. Exercise DVDs can be a great option if you're stuck at home. You can do all sorts of exercises. Check out for some ideas.
