Does helping your child(ren) with their homework make you wanna pull your hair out?

My six year old is very smart. When others are helping her with her homework and I'm listening she breezes through it. When I go to help her it takes us hours. Today she made me so mad that I packed her in the car drove an hour to my mother's house and had my mother help her with her homework it took them fifteen minutes to do four pages and it took us literally ONE HOUR to do ONE PAGE!!! (not even front and back, just front) I don't get it. Any of you ladies experience this if so has it gotten better and what has worked for you?

  • I used to have a problem with my son. When i helped him, he would roll on the ground etc. instead of doing homework. I started having a teacher help after school twice a week (he needed the tutoring help). Also having an older student from school come over once or twice a week might give you a break and be very inexpensive.

  • I used to want to shoot my own head off doing homework. If you have an after school program use it. Is there someone else who can help out? maybe an older kid in the neighborhood?

  • I helped tutor my sister and at times it could be incredibly frustrating.

  • Yes sometimes it does get rather frustrating, especially since my husband rarely helps. :(
