My son is 3 and I have two chihuahuas. My dogs are really well-behaved and put up with a lot, especially our male. Had anyone had to deal with their young child hurting the dog on purpose to get it to squeal? When it happens I put my son in his room and explain that we need to be gentle with the dog. When he comes out, we talk about it and then I hold the dog while he pets him and tell him that he's doing a good job. My dog doesn't seem to too upset by it, he's still nice and likes people. If you've gone through this, do you remember if there was a stage where your child started to grow out of this? Or was there anything specific that you did to get him to stop?
