Why is it the parents that are "experts" are always the ones who have no experience?

Have you noticed this on here? Every time you ask a question you'll end up with some "expert" mom who seems to think she knows everything about the subject, yet she has done little more than read a single blog on the subject - if that...

  • i concur. or, moms who did a terrible job raising their own kids, yet continue to offer their "golden advice" like my MIL.... (SIL is a horrible, horrible person & mom!)

  • Lol that kind of reminds me of my brother, how he's always giving me parenting advice and goes as far as to criticize how I'm raising my child, yet he has no kids.

  • I get tired of ANY mom thinking she has all of the answers.  All I have is my opinion, no real answer.

  • 'experts' are becoming a rare breed.
even those that are featured in articles my not have that much knowledge on the subject.

did those that you refer to actually claim they were experts?

  • What makes me crazy is when people who have NO KIDS or experience with kids tell you you're doing it all wrong and proceed to tell you the 'right' way to do things... My mom is friends with a lady like this- she's never had kids, yet she used to tell my mom all kinds of advice she had about raising her 3 kids.
